FILTERING LEAD AND COPPER 
FROM WATER 

Heavy metals such as lead, and copper usually find their way into our drinking water through old household water systems. Until the early 1970s, lead was used for pipes. The cause of this is therefore not in our waterworks, but in the pipes that bring the water to our taps. A general ban on lead pipes in drinking water systems will come into effect in the European Union from 2026.

Our solution: BWT water filters are specially designed to efficiently reduce heavy metals such as lead and copper. Our patented ion exchangers exchange the positive particles of the heavy metals. The process of our reverse osmosis also retains impurities caused by heavy metals and impresses with a particularly high-quality level of water purity.

Which filter removes heavy metals?

How do I get heavy metals out of drinking water

Technologies such as reverse osmosis or ion exchangers can be used to remove heavy metals from drinking water.

Are there heavy metals in tap water? 

In some regions, heavy metals such as lead, and copper can be found in small quantities in tap water. This depends on the water pipes' age and condition.

How do I know if I have a lead pipe? 

To find out if you have a lead pipe, you can have a water sample analyzed or contact your local water supplier to find out the year of construction of your house and the materials used.
