The Winter Guide for Your BWT Pool Robot
❄️ Why Winterizing Is So Important ❄️
With just a few simple steps, you can reliably protect your BWT pool robot from frost, moisture, and battery damage –
ensuring a long lifespan and maximum performance when the next pool season begins.
For models of the F1 line, Essential and Aquabot
1. Clean the filter
A clean filter prevents mold, odors, and material wear during the winter months.
- Rinse the filter basket or filter bag thoroughly with clean water.
- Allow it to dry completely and store it next to the robot (not inside the device).
2. Prepare the battery
The battery is the heart of your pool robot – and particularly sensitive to improper storage.
- Charge or discharge the battery to 70–80%.
- Check the charge level every 3 months and, if necessary, bring it back to 70–80%.
- Never store the robot for winter with a full or empty battery!
3. Choose a storage location
The robot should be stored in a dry and protected place for several months. Ideal conditions include:
- Store in a dry, frost-free, and well-ventilated environment.
- Do not expose it to direct sunlight or heat.
- Ideally place it in a shaded, protected room (e.g., basement, equipment room).
💡Pro Tip💡
Do not use chemical cleaning agents or high-pressure cleaners – they can damage seals and electronics.
📍 Proper Storage
- Store the robot vertically (on its back end) or on its back to protect the brushes.
- Always unplug the charging cable and store it separately.
- Do not store the device under power – this protects the electronics.
- Tip: Gently clean the charging contacts with a little slightly diluted vinegar or lemon cleaner to remove limescale deposits. Then dry thoroughly – the contacts must be dry and free of water.
🌻 Start in Spring
- Fully charge the battery to 100% (all LEDs light up green).
- Insert the filter basket.
- Place the robot in the water – ready for a new season!
