About the Company

Alan Wilson Dentistry is a private dental clinic in Epsom offering a full range of treatments, from routine general dentistry to advanced specialist care. As a multidisciplinary team, the practice provides comprehensive treatment under one roof for a seamless and convenient patient experience.
Committed to delivering exceptional dentistry with genuine care, the team focuses on high-quality treatment in a relaxed, welcoming environment, ensuring every patient feels informed, comfortable and confident in their care.

The ChalĀlenge

The issue was discovered when the practice’s autoclave flagged a problem with the quality of the RO water being used. Despite the team regularly cleaning and descaling their water distiller and consistently replacing the charcoal filter, water quality tests continued to show that the supply was compromised. At the same time, the running costs of the distiller were contributing to rising electricity bills, adding further frustration to the situation.
The practice needed a reliable, long-term solution. One that would consistently provide high-quality RO water while also improving cost efficiency. Following this, their autoclave engineer, Martin Ilses, recommended exploring an alternative system that could address both the water quality concerns and the operational efficiency of the setup.

The soluĀtion

When exploring alternatives, the team at Alan Wilson Dentistry had several key requirements. They needed a system that could reliably produce high-quality RO water for their autoclave while supporting compliance with required standards. It also needed to be cost-effective in the long term, easy to maintain and cause minimal disruption to the day-to-day running of the practice.

Based on these needs, BWT recommended a dedicated reverse osmosis system designed to consistently produce high-quality RO water for autoclave use – the BWT Thero 90 Pro. The system removed the need for the practice’s standalone distiller and provided a more reliable and compliant solution suited to their clinical environment.

The result

Since installing the system, Alan Wilson Dentistry has seen more consistent water quality, giving the team greater confidence in compliance and equipment performance. It has also reduced electricity use and significantly cut down the time previously spent maintaining and descaling the distiller. Overall, the new system has streamlined processes within the practice, improved efficiency, and provided a dependable long-term solution to what had become an ongoing issue. BWT continues to maintain regular communication with Alan Wilson Dentistry to ensure their water treatment needs are regularly monitored and advised on.
