You can also choose to protect your whole home by fitting an appropriate BWT physical water conditioners on the cold water feed close to your stopcock this will help protect the whole house from the build-up of limescale. From the heat exchanger in your boiler to the taps in your bedroom, from the washing machine in your utility room to your dishwasher and kettle in the kitchen.
Physical water conditioners can offer a low cost, environmentally friendly alternative for controlling the build up of scale where heat exchange takes place. These devices don’t radically alter the water chemistry, are easy to install and inexpensive to run. In general they inhibit the formation of scale by changing its physical properties, and are ideal for protecting specific appliances at the point where the water flows into them. Some will also offer entire house protection.
Note: Physical water conditioning devices, unlike water softeners, do not soften the water by lowering the calcium and magnesium content.
The performance of all water treatment devices is dependent on a number of factors, including the quality of the water locally, and the nature of the specific heating system involved. The conditioning effect is only temporary and is unsuitable for water that is to be stored for any length of time.
